Here are some FAQ and ongoing issues in current builds of CyanogenMod 10 on the Galaxy S3 SGH-I747(M):

Downloading/Updating

Where can I download Cyanogenmod?

Download it from get.cm.

Where can I download Google Apps (gapps)?

You can download the currently recommended gapps from goo.im.  To check if a newer version has been released check the gapps download list and look for a “jb” download with a newer date.

Where can I see what has changed?

You can see a changelog at Appspot or BBQDroid.

What is the difference between the M versions and the Nightly versions?

Technically there is no difference.  The M flagged zip files are the same as every other nightly, except care is taken in the days/week before releasing the M edition to not introduce any new features into Nightlies that might break the system. This means that if you flash only the M files you are less likely to run into “show-stopping” bugs. After the M edition is released developers will continue adding new features to the Nightlies that may or may not result in instability.

Sound/Volume/Speech

I have no sound for calls/notifications/alarms, how do I fix this?

This should be fixed with the latest nightlies.  Please let us know if you are still encountering this issue.  Try turning your each volume slider down to 0, wait a couple of seconds, and then turn them back up to where you want them.  Try choosing your desired sound from the settings again.

In-call volume is extremely high, how do I fix this?

As of 10/10 Nightly the call volume should no longer default to maximum on each call.  If you are having trouble adjusting the volume while on a call move the phone away from your ear to get the screen to come on and adjust the volume.

Google Voice isn’t recognizing all the words I’m speaking!

In several places CM10 is incorrectly using the top (noise cancellation) microphone for voice input.  Try speaking clearly towards the top of the phone.

Why isn’t Google Navigation speaking street names?  Why isn’t Google Now speaking results?

Currently Google Text-to-Speech only works if your language is set to English (US).  Make sure the language in both the app you are using and the TTS engine are set to English (US).

My Navigation is repeating the same phrase over and over!

Reinstall Google Maps from the Market or clear its data.  If you are still having trouble you may also need to clear the data for the TTS engine you are using.

4G/Data/Wi-Fi

Why doesn’t my phone shows LTE anymore since I downloaded CM?

On CM10 H+ stands for 4G HSPA+, while 4G actually stands for LTE.  So don’t worry, if you are in a LTE area and your phone is showing 4G, you are getting LTE.

My phone is never showing 4G (LTE), how do I fix this?

Go into ‘System Settings->More->Mobile Neworks‘ and make sure that ‘LTE/GSM‘ is selected under the Network Mode heading.  By default, after installing, LTE is turned off.

If that doesn’t work you may need to check your APN settings under ‘System Settings->More->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names‘ and make sure that they match known good APN settings for your service provider.  If they don’t match you will need to update them manually or wait for proper settings to be merged into CM.

If you are still not getting 4G after the above steps you may have lost your IMEI.  Check under ‘System Settings->About Phone->Status‘.  If your IMEI shows ‘0’ (zero) you may have to follow the instructions in the IMEI Backup/Restore thread to restore your IMEI.

Why don’t I get very good Wi-Fi all the time?

Some people report problems with Wi-Fi signal or connection. Try going to ‘System Settings->Wi-Fi->Menu/Advanced‘ and un-check ‘Avoid Poor Connections‘.  There are reports that this issue is fixed in other/upcoming firmwares.

GPS

Why is my GPS not working?

Go to “System Settings->Location Services->GPS Source” and make sure “Use Internal GPS” is selected, even if it is the only option.

Go to “System Settings->Location Services” and uncheck and recheck all the options.  It may prompt you to grant permissions again.

There are also some reports of GPS being slow to lock on to satellites.

Camera & Gallery

How do I save my camera pictures to external SD card instead of internal?

There is currently no option to store to external SD card, but it will likely be added in a future patch.

Why isn’t Picasa Sync working?

Unfortunately this is a known bug in the CM10 builds. You gallery will only have your camera roll of pictures and will no longer so Picasa or Facebook synced pictures. DO NOT download another version of the stock gallery, as this will break your camera as well.

Features & Settings

How do I center the clock on the lock screen?

Go into ‘Settings->Lock Screen->Clock Alignment‘ and select ‘Center‘

How do I enable answering calls with the Home Button?

Go to “System Settings->Accessibility” and check “Home button answers call“.

Why don’t I see a cursor in the SMS quick reply box?

The cursor in the quick reply box is currently always white.  This means it does not show up on the white background.  If you switch the quick reply theme in the SMS app settings to “Dark” you will be able to see the cursor. (Note this theme setting does not apply to the Messaging app, only the quick reply box). This bug has been resolved as of the 10/08 Nightly Build.

Why can’t I get the Owner Info to display on the lock screen?

Currently the Owner Info only shows up on the lock screen when the Battery Status is not shown.  If you set “System Settings->Lock Screen->Battery Status” to “Only when charging” the Owner Info will show when it is unplugged.  There is currently no way to display the Owner Info on the lock screen while plugged in.

Misc

Why are my apps Force Closing (FCing)?

First of all make sure your app is compatible with Jellybean.  Some apps are not up-to-date and will crash on the latest version of Android.  Try “Fix Permissions” under Advanced in Recovery.  If that doesn’t work try clearing the application’s data (after making a backup) from the “Manage Apps” menu, then re-launch the application in question.

CM10 has problems reading my 64GB SD card.  How can I fix this?

CM will not directly support the exFAT format due to licensing restrictions.  You can format as FAT32 (with the restriction of not being able to have files over 4GB each).

My Home Button doesn’t work to wake the phone up all the time.

This has been been a known issue for a while.  Try “double tapping” the button, or pressing it more than once.  Using the Power button will also always wake the phone in this situation.  Some have reported increasing the minimum governor processor speed under ‘Settings->Performance->Processor‘ from 384MHz to 486MHz helps, but this will likely affect battery life.
